Interest-Based Hosted Cruises
A knowledgeable host turns a regular sailing into a program around your passion.
Ask About Interest SailingsHosted Sailings Built Around an Interest
The most memorable hosted cruises have a reason beyond the itinerary. A knowledgeable host turns a regular sailing into a program: talks on sea days, tastings, workshops and shore excursions chosen for the group’s passion.
Food & wine
Tastings, market visits and winery excursions with a chef, sommelier or food writer as host.
History & culture
Talks before each port and guided walks ashore with a historian or educator.
Photography
Composition sessions on board and golden-hour shoots in port with a working photographer.
Dance & music
Group lessons on sea days and evenings at the ship’s dance venues.
Faith & fellowship
Services, study and fellowship led by a pastor, rabbi or church group leader.
Crafts & hobbies
Quilting, knitting, painting or writing sessions in a reserved room.
Wellness
Morning yoga, walking groups and talks led by a fitness or wellness professional.
Nature & wildlife
Commentary and spotting help from a naturalist on scenic itineraries such as Alaska.
How Interest-Based Hosting Works

The group books cabins together, usually as a group block. The host plans sessions around sea days and reserves meeting space through the cruise line. Group excursions are arranged either through the ship or a local operator. Guests pay their cruise fare plus, where applicable, a clearly stated program fee for the host’s sessions and special events.
Cruise lines also run their own enrichment programs on many sailings. A hosted group adds a private, focused layer on top — for more on onboard learning, see Learning Cruises, and for theme cruises run by promoters, Special Interest Cruises.
Are You an Expert Who Could Host?
Instructors, authors, chefs, guides and coaches with a loyal audience are often well placed to host. Before you announce a trip, work out what you will offer each day, how much meeting space you need and whether you will charge a program fee. Get approval from the cruise line for anything unusual, such as selling products onboard or bringing equipment. Our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise can set up the group and handle every guest’s booking so you can focus on the content.
Choosing the Itinerary to Fit the Interest
- Food and wine pairs naturally with Mediterranean and European itineraries rich in markets and vineyards.
- Nature and photography suit Alaska, Hawaii and scenic cruising days with long daylight hours.
- History thrives on port-intensive sailings in Europe and the Mediterranean.
- Workshops and crafts need sea days for sessions — look for itineraries with several.
