Hosted Cruise FAQ

What is the difference between a hosted cruise and a group cruise?

Every hosted cruise is a group cruise, but not every group cruise has a host. A hosted cruise has a named person who leads and looks after the group.

Are hosted cruises good for solo travelers?

Very. You get a ready-made circle of companions and someone to help if needed. Ask whether roommate matching is offered, or budget for a single cabin.

Do I have to attend every group event?

Usually not. Most hosted cruises have a few group events and plenty of free time. Ask whether any events are required.

Is a hosted cruise more expensive?

Not necessarily. The cruise fare may be the group rate. Any program fee should be stated separately so you can judge its value.

Can I bring friends who are not part of the group?

Often yes, if they book into the group. Ask the host or booking advisor before they book.

What if I need help during the cruise?

Contact the host first for group matters, and the ship’s guest services or medical center for anything urgent.

Who do I pay for the cruise?

Your cruise fare is paid through the group’s booking advisor to the cruise line. Be cautious about paying cruise fares directly to an individual.

Can families join hosted cruises?

Many hosted groups welcome families; some interest-based groups are adults only. Ask the host. For family-focused trips, see Family Group Cruises.

Do I need travel insurance?

We recommend it for every traveler. Group cancellation terms can be stricter than individual bookings.

How do I start my own hosted cruise?

See our page on hosting your own group, then ask our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise to set up the group.

The people side of leading a cruise.

A Day on a Hosted Cruise

Picture a typical sea day: an optional morning walk on the promenade with the group, a talk or tasting before lunch, a free afternoon by the pool or in the spa, and dinner together at reserved tables. On a port day, the host might meet the group at the gangway for a shared excursion, while others head off on their own and catch up at dinner. The rhythm is gentle by design — enough together time to feel like a group, enough freedom to feel like a vacation.
